About

Leisa Mererid

I began my working life as an actor, drawn by a love of storytelling and a deep curiosity about the connection between voice, body and movement and how we communicate beyond words. I trained at Manchester Metropolitan School of Theatre and later moved to Paris to study physical theatre with the late Jacques Lecoq. Both trainings placed a strong emphasis on the language of music and sound as well as somatic approaches (Alexander technique & Feldenkrais) These formative years, along with decades of experience as a working actor, continue to inform my work today.

Becoming a parent brought both joy and challenge and made life as a working actor less realistic. During this period of change yoga became my anchor, supporting me through important life transitions. Feeling deeply grateful, I felt a strong pull to share the gifts of yoga with others. This led me to train as a yoga teacher and for over ten years I have taught gentle, inclusive practices, particularly welcoming those who previously felt that yoga wasn’t for them.

Over time, I became increasingly aware of how chronically exhausted so many people are. Seeking deeper rest myself, I began attending regular gong baths, where I experienced a profound sense of peace and renewal. Guided by creativity and curiosity, I went on to train as a Gong Practitioner with the College of Sound Healing (2022-2024).

My roots, heritage and mother tongue – Welsh - are deeply important to me. I believe it is our birthright to access healing practices in our first language, as this allows the work to land at a deeper level. My Sound journeys and yoga sessions are led in Welsh, and are held bilingually where needed, ensuring the work remains inclusive and welcoming to all.

I hope to see you soon.
